Harlan County FRYSCs and YSC, in partnership with our community collaborators, proudly hosted our Baby Fest Community Baby Shower. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success! We are especially grateful to the Harlan County Extension Depot for generously providing the venue. The FRYSC team remains committed not only to supporting our students, but also to serving families and individuals in need across Harlan County.

FRYSC recently hosted the 4-H Dollars and Sense Program at Green Hills Elementary for 7th and 8th grade students. This youth development program helps students build financial literacy by applying what they learn in a real-world setting. It emphasizes the importance of responsible money management and planning for a stable financial future. During the program, each student was given a set amount of money to manage, allowing them to gain hands-on experience making financial decisions. The activity provided valuable insight into budgeting and the impact of everyday choices. At the end of the program, students completed a survey to reflect on what they learned and share their takeaways from the experience. We appreciate Harlan County 4-H for this opportunity for our students. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped make this possible.

Here are the important dates and details for upcoming 4th-8th graders 2026-27: There will only be one tryout for students. 📅 APRIL 30 Practice: 5:30-7:30 PM Parent Meeting at 7:00 PM (One parent must attend for each cheerleader) 📅 MAY 1 Tryouts begin at 5:30 PM 📄 Students must have a sports physical. 📣We’re excited to see our future Falcons Cheerleaders ready to show their school spirit! 💚💛

Alumni Alison Hensley is an ARH Mountain Student Achiever. Ali is a senior at Harlan County High School, where she has a 4.0 GPA. She is an officer for the National Honor Society as well as a member of the Beta Club. She is also a varsity Track and Field athlete. Congratulations, Ali. Green Hills Elementary is so proud of you!

Harlan County and Harlan Independent Family Resource and Youth Service Centers kicked off the annual Child Abuse Awareness month by placing Pinwheels on the Courthouse lawn on Friday, March 27. The pinwheels are a national symbol for child abuse prevention. Why? Because by its very nature, the pinwheel promotes playfulness, joy and childhood. That is the childhood we want for all children. 🏹 Congratulations, Green Hills Archers! 🏹 We would like to congratulate our Green Hills Archers on a wonderful season! At the 2026 Championship, the team earned 2nd Place Overall. In individual standings, Josiah Turner placed 1st in the male division, was named Shooter of the Year for the entire county, and was also recognized as the Overall Archer of the Championship. We are incredibly proud of our archers and their hard work and dedication this season!
