Harlan County and Harlan Independent Family Resource and Youth Service Centers kicked off the annual Child Abuse Awareness month by placing Pinwheels on the Courthouse lawn on Friday, March 27. The pinwheels are a national symbol for child abuse prevention. Why? Because by its very nature, the pinwheel promotes playfulness, joy and childhood. That is the childhood we want for all children. Harlan County Judge Executive Dan Mosley read and signed the 2026 Child Abuse Prevention Month Proclamation. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙 Wear blue on Mondays in April for child abuse awareness! #WearBlue4Kids #pinwheelsforprevention #keepkidssafe #aprilischildabusepreventionmonth

Hope for Appalachian brought so much joy and shared such a positive and inspiring message to Green Hills Elementary today! Each student received a special Easter box filled with goodies, and our staff was treated to delicious cookies as well. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness and generosity. FRYSC Coordinator Darla Shepherd and Assistant Coordinator Sheila Hensley truly appreciate this wonderful partnership with Hope for Appalachian (Team Terry). 💜
