FIRST GRADE GLOW DAY Part 2

FIRST GRADE GLOW DAY Mrs. Caldwell’s first graders had a glowing good time exploring the fascinating world of bioluminescent creatures!

At Green Hills Elementary, we know that showing up matters—and several students proved just how committed they are during this year’s state testing. Every student from kindergarten through eighth grade who had perfect attendance during the testing window was entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card as a thank-you for their dedication. The idea for the attendance incentive was a collaborative effort between Full-Service Community School Coordinator Paula Bray and Principal Saylor. Together, they wanted to find a meaningful way to recognize students who demonstrated responsibility and consistency by being present each day. Today, one student from each grade level was randomly selected to receive a gift card. Congratulations to the following winners: • Kindergarten – Madison Thomas • 1st Grade – Kolton Hoskins • 2nd Grade – Riley Hall • 3rd Grade – Lillian Mills • 4th Grade – Rosslynn Morgan • 5th Grade – Julie Wilson • 6th Grade – Braylee Burkhart • 7th Grade – Billy Harrison • 8th Grade – Jax Shepherd Mrs. Bray shared, “We wanted to let these students know that their effort didn’t go unnoticed. Being present, especially during testing, really makes a difference.” To all students who achieved perfect attendance—your dedication is inspiring. Keep up the great work!

ATTENTION CURRENT 6TH GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS Please make sure your child has an updated Kentucky Certificate of Immunization (Shot Record) and the KENTUCKY PREVENTATIVE HEALH CARE FORM (Physical) are on file at your child’s school before the seventh grade year begins. These forms are required by the Kentucky Department of Education.

TORNADO RELIEF COLLECTIONS CONTINUING UNTIL 10 A.M. WEDNESDAY We are continuing to collect tornado relief items for our neighbors in Laurel County through 10 a.m. Wednesday. Collections are slow so we will not leave with the items until 10 a.m. on Wednesday from the Central Office parking lot. Please reference yesterday's post for more information: The Harlan County School District is collecting emergency essentials for the tornado victims impacted by the horrific destruction. We will be stuffing our Black Bear box truck beginning this afternoon. The urgent need is for gift cards, plastic totes with lids, bungee cords, contractor trash bags, rakes, portable non perishable snacks such as nabs, protein bars, beef jerky, candy bars, cakes, etc.. Gift cards should be grocery cards, fast food restaurants, Lowe's, 84 Lumber, Walmart, etc.. No canned food and no clothing will be accepted. Buses will be parked at Cumberland and Evarts Elementary by the end of school today. The buses will be clearly marked with donation signs. Gift cards should be dropped at central office only between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday. We are working with the Southeast /South Central Educational cooperative for this relief effort. They are on the ground in Laurel County assisting.

PREREGISTRATION FOR FUTURE BLACK BEAR FOOTBALL CAMP BEGINS TOMORROW 🏈🏈🏈 Those in the Tri-Cities area can preregister at Cumberland Elementary. Those in the Clover Fork area can preregister at Evarts Elementary. Those in the Bledsoe area can preregister at Green Hills Elementary. The remainder of the county has a couple different options: There will be preregistration at the HC football complex on Friday, May 30 from 4:00 - 6:00. There will also be preregistration at the HC Football tent at the Poke Sallet Festival. You can still register your son on the day of the camp. However, preregistration guarantees them a t-shirt. Camp dates and times: 6/13 from 5:00 -7:00 kindergarten through third grade* 6/20 from 5:00 - 7:00 fourth through eighth grade * *Grade is based on the upcoming 25/26 school year
