Students win in Regional Governor's Cup

Congratulations to all of our students who competed and placed in the Kentucky Governor's Cup Region 17 Middle School competition on Saturday at Rosspoint Elementary.

“We are very proud of our students,” said Superintendent Brent Roark. “They spend many hours preparing for the district competition. In addition to practice at school, they work hard at home to be competitive with their peers. Those who place at district advanced to the region held at Rosspoint. We commend them for winning these awards.”

Wallins Elementary won top honors in the Future Problem Solving competition. Team members are Jack Eld, Ashlynn Jackson, Mason Jones and Wesley Greene

Grayson Short of Rosspoint won second place in mathematics and third place in science.

Eli Epperson of Cawood won second in science.

Skylar Rutherford of James A. Cawood won second in composition.

Landon Coldiron of James A. Cawood won third in mathematics.

Samuel Williams of Cawood won sixth in science.

Jack Eld of Wallins won fourth in social studies.

Caroline Patterson of Cawood won fourth in composition.

Alexis Kelly of Evarts Junior High won fifth in composition.

Eldridge Kelly of Black Mountain won fifth in social studies.

Carah Rose of Rosspoint won sixth in language arts.

Abigail Tolliver of Rosspoint won sixth in Arts and Humanities.

Other schools with students participating were Barbourville, Cumberland, Green Hills, Lone Jack and Right Fork.

All of the students listed above are eligible to take part in the state competition in March.
