In recognition of Family Resource and Youth Service Center ( FRYSC) week, Harlan County FRYSC workers held a luncheon at Harlan County High School on February 11.
Family Resource and Youth Service Centers provide assistance to students and families to overcome non academic barriers to education.
Superintendent Brent Roark said the FRYSC team does a tremendous job in helping remove the barriers of Harlan County students, going above and beyond each day to make certain all needs are met. He said weekend backpack programs help feed many students on the weekends.
"The FRYSC folks are responsible for a lot of tasks in our schools in helping families. They do a great job. I appreciate each of them," said Roark.
In addition to providing clothing, school supplies and food, centers provide educational programs on drug awareness, hygiene, college awareness/preparedness, citizenship and many other topics.
Each school has a staffed resource center year round. If you or someone you know has a non academic need, please reach out to your school’s FRYSC for assistance.
