Harlan County High School JROTC Raider Team
brings home two 1st Place trophies

On Saturday 21st of November, the Harlan County Raider
team traveled to
Campbell County Comprehensive High School at Jacksboro,
Tennessee to compete in the Pine Mountain JROTC League Competition.
An early morning start, competing against 6 other high schools;
Thomas Walker, Scott County, Grainger County, Whitley County,
Southwestern and Middlesboro; in 4 different events made for an
exciting challenge.
The first event the academic team, consisting of 1 female
and 3 male, was given a 51 question test with 30 seconds per
question.
The second event was the Obstacle Course consisting of 2 females
and 3 males.
The third event was the One Rope Bridge, which consist of trying a
rope across two points and moving the team members safely across.
And last they had a Secret Event.
The Secret Event is unknown until you compete; it usually
involves academics, physical, and leadership abilities.
The Cadets have to be ready for anything. These events also
allow the Cadets from different schools to come together for
fellowship.
Harlan County Raiders brought home 2 first place trophies for the
Secret event and the Obstacle Course. Our Harlan County JROTC
Raider’s are planning another competition in January of 2010. We
intend to keep up the winning streak and bring home many more
trophies to Harlan County.
