Description: The comprehensive course provides an opportunity for acquiring basic life skills and specific areas of concentrated study. Students will recieve a wide basis of information in various areas such as personality, life style, emotions, human growth and development, body systems and functions, protection from diseases, substance use and abuse, safety, accident prevention, first aid and CPR, and consumer awareness.
This is a broad range of topics to be covered in a 9 week period:

Grading Scale To Assess Student Work:
94-100 A 4=Distinguished
87-93 B 3=Proficient
76-86 C 2=Apprentice
70-75 D 1=Novice
0-69 F 0=No Response Or Irrelevent


Exams: There will be an exam after each chapter as well as a mid-term and final exam. Mid-term and final exams will be comprehensive (This means that all materials previously covered will be on these exams.)
Quizzes: There can be a quiz at any time during the week if problems with materials covered (Break it down to smaller areas.)
Progress Reports: I will send progress reports home every "2" weeks for parents signature, these are to be returned to me the next day for 100PTS. credit, if not returned you will recieve a "0" for a grade.
Homework: Homework will be assigned at least 3 days a week. Students must have this work completed before the next class meeting. The assignments will be completed and kept in their notebook for a grade.
Class Participation All students must participate in class discussions and activities.
Attendance: Attendance is required in accordance to the Harlan County Board of Education and James A. Cawood High School policies. All missed work will be made up only under those policies. Tardiness will not be tolerated and will be handled under the above policies.
